ID and Description are common fields used when setting up and configuring items throughout BravoBase.


The ID is a short, unique code that BravoBase uses to identify an item configured in the system, such as a Product, Production, Season, or other setup record. The Description is the readable name or label associated with that ID.


Although BravoBase uses the term Description, in most setup areas you can think of this field as the name of the item you are creating.

ID Requirements

When creating an ID:

  • The ID can contain a maximum of 4 characters.
  • It can include letters, numbers, or a combination of both.
  • IDs are case-sensitive.
  • The ID should be unique within the applicable setup area.
  • Use a short, recognizable ID that relates to the item being created.

Description Requirements

When creating a description:

  • The Description can contain a maximum of 50 characters.
  • Use a clear and recognizable name that identifies what the record represents.
  • Descriptions can include spaces and can be more detailed than the ID.
  • In most setup areas, think of Description as the item's Name.
