This lesson will cover management of consent for your organisation's Patrons and Stakeholders.

New Zealand Privacy Legislation (New Zealand Customers Only)
Key Points:
- The team at PatronBase New Zealand recommend your New Zealand based organisation seeks independent legal advice from a New Zealand registered lawyer regarding all matters of privacy.
- Whilst the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has a broad extraterritorial scope, its application outside of the European Union is dependent on a number of complex factors.
- The PatronBase team also recommend you discuss implementation of your organisation’s required privacy settings with a PatronBase New Zealand Support Agent.
- You will be using the information produced by the Marketing Module in one of 3 key ways:
- For non-communications based reporting: collecting data for reports that inform your funding applications, strategic direction and more.
- For transactional communications-based reporting: communication based on transactions e.g. sending essential information re. tickets purchased. Things to know about the show or event booked for.
- For opt-in marketing emails: For example, when you are sending a marketing email about upcoming ticket sales for a show to patrons who bought tickets to a similar show, or the same show last year, and have opted-in to receive marketing communications.
- It is these opt-in marketing emails for which we need to be concerned about managing consent for our organisation’s patrons.
- There’s two key ways of opting in to receive marketing communications:
- The Standard Privacy Boxes
- Mailing list self-opt group attributes
- If your organisation is working with a large number of production partners, then you will be using an advanced opt-in scenario called ‘data sharing’ which is linked with the Advanced Privacy Filter.
- Sometimes the PatronBase team may have removed your organisation’s privacy box options in order to replace them with the newsletter group as the main method of opting in. If you’d like to consider this, please talk to the support team.
- The way a patron is signed up to your organisation’s newsletter will be determined by what your organisation has configured. That could, for example, be a mailchimp form or a squarespace sign-up form or similar. It could also be the PatronBase Embedded Newsletter signup form.
- Signups to a Mailchimp or squarespace form, for example, will go directly to the respective audience list in MailChimp or Squarespace, and will then need to be manually imported into PatronBase.
- Sign-ups to the PatronBase Embedded Newsletter sign up form will go directly into PatronBase to the default newsletter group (unless the form is otherwise configured).
- In Box Office under the Personal Tab of the Patron Window, on the right hand side is the Privacy Box with Privacy Settings for the Patron. These may be updated by the Box Office Operator with written or verbal permission from the Patron. Attributes, found on the attributes tab may also be updated in the same way, with written or verbal permission from the patron.
